In a pregnant woman, this can happen because of very severe vomiting and dehydration, severe pre-eclampsia affecting the kidneys, or a serious body infection (sepsis). The lips and skin feel very dry, the eyes look sunken, and the woman may feel dizzy or too weak to stand.<br /> <br /> This is not something that can be managed with oral fluids at home. She needs fluids given directly into a vein (IV drip) at the PHC or CHC. The sooner she gets there, the less damage occurs.
